February 21, 2017 , 8:30 PM

[1st Floor]

Presented in honor of Oscar winning film director Milos Forman's 85th birtday. In Czech with English subtitles. A dazzling comedy and a political satire, this film chronicles a fireman’s ball where nothing goes right – from a beauty pageant whose reluctant participants embarrass the organizers to a lottery from which nearly all the prizes are stolen. Seen as a commentary on the Czech leadership of the time, the film was banned forever in Czechoslovakia following the Russain invasion and prompted the director's move to America.
