Tristan Und Rusalka - CANCELLED! DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
February 9, 2017 , 7:00 PM
Due to the inclement weather, this event was cancelled and re-scheduled for February 15, 7:00 PM.
Musicologist Michael Beckerman explors Rusalka’s deeper meanings. More than picturesque fairy tale, the opera by Antonin Dvorak aspires to the dramatic power of Wagner's Tristan in its use of recurring motives and in its psychological depth. Themes of longing, wish for death, and search for a kind of ultimate love pervade the work and the final scene rises to the highest level of tragedy.
